Lasik Procedure: The lasik procedure is a vision correction surgery where a highly precise laser is used to make a small slice on the surface of the eye which when healed will result in near perfect vision.

Lasik eye surgery procedure starts with a visit to your optometrist to determine if you are a god candidate for Lasik Eye Surgery. Once your doctor has approved you and you have decided to have the laser eye surgery the following Lasik procedure will begin:

1) Your doctor will measure your eyes to asses the amount of nearsightedness and astigmatisms you have. Your doctor will complete a thorough examination of the health of your eyes and answer any questions you have about the Lasik procedure.

2) The laser will be calibrated and tested for accuracy on the day of your surgery.

3) The exact correction setting for each eye will be entered into the laser's computer. The computer will determine the exact amount of laser pulses to apply to your eyes.

4) Once you are brought into the laser room you will lay down in a prone position and a patch will be placed over the eye that is not recieving the Lasik Surgery first.

5) Anesthetic eyedrops will be administered to your eye to minimize any pain.

6) Your eyelids will be held open by a small speculum and the doctor will ask you to look at a small blinking light.

7) You will hear a clicking noise which is the laser as it creates the flap with the keratome. The blinking light will become blurry as the Lasik procedure progresses. This part of the Lasik surgery takes about 1 minute to complete.

8) Eye drops will be placed in your eye then the next eye will have the Lasik procedure done in the same way. You will stay in the treatment room for about ten minutes before going home.

9) Once you are home you will not be able to go outside in the bright light for about a week. You will also be required to put drops in your eyes regularly. Sometimes you will see floaters or bright halos in your vision. If your eyesight does not seem to be getting better on a daily basis then you should consult your Lasik eye doctor right away. At this stage of the Lasik procedure you should really focus on resting your eyes, eating healthy, and avoiding bright lights.
